Mile Marker DETOUR Episodes

This week’s Detour is a little different—because our lives have taken a pretty major detour of their own.
We’re in the middle of a three-week run of Come From Away, with Abby onstage and Jason unexpectedly stepping in as stage manager just days before opening. We talk about the frantic race through tech week, the surprisingly complicated choreography of chairs and jackets, what it’s like to jump into a production already in motion, and how an incredibly stressful process turned into something pretty special.
We also dig into why this particular show has been so meaningful. Nearly 25 years after 9/11, audiences are still bringing their own memories and stories into the theater—and the emotional response after each performance has been remarkable.

This week, we Detour to the University of Iowa and share the emotional journey of moving Jack into his dorm room and what life has been like at home without him.
